Yes, it is early. However, let’s pretend for a moment that April 13th is July 13th. The Mets are one game up on the division, a dismal 26th in batting with Jeff McNeil and Francisco “The Troll” Alvarez on the cusp of returning from injuries. They are number one in team earned Run Average (ERA), I trust the bats in Queens to wake up a bit and join Pete Alonso in his stats (.347AVG, 1.16OPS, 3rd in RBIs) plus the addition of McNeil and Alvarez. Furthermore, the farm looks great, and I don’t want to see any of the top 5 prospects leave (Brandon Sproat, Jett Williams, Carson Benege, Ryan Clifford, Nolan McClean, respectively.) With all that said, here is my pitch, let’s work with Seattle and St. Louis and get it done!

Mariners Get- Nolan Arenado from St. Louis, Bret Baty and Starling Marte from the Mets

Mets Get- Luis Castillo from the Mariners

Cardinals Get- Harry Ford from the Mariners

HOW IT WORKS- Everyone gets pieces they need; the Mets solidify their line up with (Sean Manea returning from injury) and the addition of Castillo. The Mariners get their future 3rd baseman in Baty and a DH/platoon 3rd baseman to help train Baty and make an impact with his bat in Arenado (Arenado currently hitting .265AVG, .415SLG, .802OPS.) The cardinals need their next franchise catcher and with Seattle extending Cal “The Big Dumper” Raleigh to a six year 105-Million-dollar deal, Harry Ford is a hot trade chip. Seattle owes Castillo over 73-million-dollars from 2026-2028. They are simply not going to keep him around and pay that when they have three more years of control of George Kirby who is currently only making 4.3-million-dollars and two years of control on Logan Gilbert who is currently making 7.6 million-dollars. Daddy Cohen will likely have to retain up to ten-million-dollars of the 20.75-million Marte is owed this year. This trade would make the Mets very expensive moving forward with Alonso looking at a three year 90-million-dollar deal this offseason. Back to the Cardinals, Ford would be an upgrade from Pages and Pozo, not to mention the aging Contreras.
